Dear Pittsburgh Picklers,
You’ve helped us grow in ways we never imagined. It’s because of you that we are where we are today. In return, we want to share some things that have happened because of you, and our vision for the future.
Any pickle-lover in Pittsburgh knows Picklesburgh is the Super Bowl of pickle events. With over 100,000 attendees this year, the three-day event idolizing pickles is the largest pickle event in the world.
Before we go on, we need to set the record straight. We did not invent Picklesburgh, and Picklesburgh was not invented for us. However, if you wanted to say our booth is the main attraction, we wouldn’t stop you.
At Picklesburgh this year, we had a line at our booth the entire time and sold more than a jar of pickles per minute. That’s greater success than we could have ever hoped for. Also, if you came to our booth you might have participated in our taste test and signed the card for Primanti Bros. We’re still going back and forth with Primanti’s, but even approaching a company like that wouldn’t be possible without support from fans like you.
Another great success this year was our Honeycomb campaign. In May, we set out to raise $10,000 to improve our equipment and renovate our building to expand upon our capabilities. By the end of the campaign in July, we had raised over $50,000, proving once again, we have one of the best fan bases. Thank you all for believing in us.
It’s quietly flown under the radar this year, but we began co-packing products on behalf of some other Pittsburgh companies. We’re happy we can help other local companies and it helps us employ more Pittsburghers, which also makes us happy.
Another thing that makes us happy is Pickle Pizza. This year, we teamed up with Caliente Pizza and Draft House to launch a pickle pizza in Pittsburgh. The Caliente Pickle Pizza was a great success and we received lots of positive feedback. We knew it was dill-icous, but thanks to you, it was the hit we hoped for!
We also teamed up with Jenny Lee to create a new flavor of pickle, the Cinn-a-pickle. We launched the Cinn-a-pickle in November and it’s already off to a great start. We’re still working to get Cinn-a-pickles into major grocery stores, but for now, you can find them at The Beer Hive in the Strip District and other independent retailers around the city.
As for the year ahead, we have some ambitious plans. We plan to get our products on Amazon so you can get any quantity of them shipped directly to you. We also plan to sell our newest product, Briney Mary, in Giant Eagle and select Fine Wine & Good Spirit stores across PA.
However, our biggest goal is to expand our retail footprint to offer more people the exceptional pickles we make. We want our jars to be available in more retail locations in PA as well as outside PA as we start expanding our geographic footprint. If you want to find our pickles somewhere, or know of a retail location that would benefit from having our pickles, let us know and we’ll do what we can to make it happen.
In summary, thank you all so much for an amazing 2018 and helping us reach the point we are at today. We take pride in the products we make and the way we make them, but the support we receive from you makes it all worth it. We’ve had an awesome year and expect 2019 to be even better.
